Story Boarding

In todays lesson we have learned about story boarding and the importance of this when developing a film or documentary. We learned of the importance of the Rule of Thirds when thinking about a frame. The Rule of Thirds is the alignment of a frame in nine distinct boxes. There are three lines going horizontally across the frame with three more intersecting lines going in a vertical direction across the frame. There is an example of the Rule of Thirds in the image below.

We also learned that for our Day in the Life project we will need to use a variety of different camera angle to ensure that the sequences remain interesting and do not become boring and monotonous. As well as that, we discovered that we have to take into consideration where the character will be moving in a scene. For example, if there is a scene where the character is walking from one place to another in the same frame, not to start them half way across the frame because this will make the clip seem too short and will not fit this type of scene.
